Why did I choose Khalil as the ambassador for Muay Thai? He is married and got married in Thailand. He enjoys training at Tiger Muay Thai & MMA in Phuket. First, we have the Wai Kru, a dance that Khalil does. He does a much quicker version of the Wai Khru, as it is a big part of the muay Thai show. It is the dance, which may be similar to John Wayne Parr in which you pull out your invisible guns, much like the original John Wayne. This is where you can be a little creative or insert part of your personality. I noticed his last fight with Anthony Smith, he did a similar Wai Khru, which provides protection, shows honor and gives you heart.
If you want to see a Muay Thai clinic you should watch his fight with Eryk Anders. He nearly knocks him out via leg kicks with Anders falling due to them throughout the fight. Most of the Fight was spent, by Khalil, having Anders stand back up using the low kick to provide his victory.
Khalil would be considered more of a Muay Mat type fighter. It is normal for foreigners to take this style, as it is more based on boxing and ending combinations with low kicks or entering starting with the low kick to keep you confused about low and high attacks . This is the link to the actual fight, but it is a Muay Thai clinic without one answer.
When watching these fights, you can notice in the first minute, he is bringing his front leg light and puts most of the weight on the back foot. You can also see him target the low kick and moving into the second round he picks up the pace to try to finish the fight. This goes on for round two and three. Eryk Anders, comments that Anders should throw in the towel. Noticing how Khalil has a leg strong kicks and mid kick defense, he uses the shield he brings the leg up connects his knee to elbow to make the power disperse over a larger mass shows we need to keep a look for his defense coming up with Pereira every fighter says the leg kick is so hard. Which segues us into Alex Pereira.
Ok I am going to break down Alex Pereira. He was a Glory double weight champion, he is genetically a freak athlete. Now the champion in the light heavyweight Champion from holding the Middleweight title, becoming a double champ. From the number one kickboxing organization double champion and a double champion in the UFC.
Now Light Heavyweight Champion. To be a champion in every weight class you go into is extremely impressive.
No one can touch this guy. They have a saying that Alex has a very good leg kick which the way he’s able to pull it off is because he is using the side of his shin without turning his hips over due to his strength and has such natural power it kills people from the speed. In Muay Thai, blocking and checking becomes almost natural. A shoulder moves you automatically block the low kick. Not to say, he won’t hit him with any. Alex has a Brazilian style of Muay Thai. As it does have a few like too many switch steps and hand placement tendencies it is so new they don’t have the history of Muay Thai in which we just defined why you “shield” or “block.” But in training videos we see Alex using more boxing training he enjoys the slips and gets hit when someone is countering him due to lack of defense. This also might give Khalil a clinch or (plam) which is like stand up wrestling a regular everyday activity. We do it every day for 30 minutes of this stand-up wrestling. If it is your first time, your neck feels like it is broken. So, we could see some clinch or sweeps as I have seen Khalil in training doing a lot of clinching and Peirera uses more of his boxing and his biggest defense is switching or slipping He does this to get his power he slips to one side, and it automatically sets him up for the next attack fully loaded.
Everyone knows this picture, you see his shoulder aim to the inside, his next strike will be a cross as his weight is put on that leg automatically loading it uo.
As making his offense with such power it also puts him into getting tagged. Perreira is actually the favorite, due to his heart, and his back to back defenses. On UFC 307, you will notice the way they step forward to throwing kicks, punches, elbows, and knees. It is really one of my favorites, stand up fights to come this year. Please, if you want to learn more about Muay Thai, I am writing profiles on the different styles and how the new UFC 307 challenger could win. This comes from a guy that has lived in Thailand the last 8 years and loves training. My whole life revolves around Muay Thai. I hope you join my journey, and we can try to get the different FIVE styles of Muay Thai; Muay Mat (Power Puncher low kick), Muay Sok (Elbow specialist), Muay Femur (I am going to call this (Fancy Muay Thai )and finally, the fifth is Muay Khao (Knee Fighter). I am not giving a prediction, but as a pro fighter who has fought in both sports. I would love to see Khalil come out as a champion just because he didn’t just come to Thailand to get good training. He also learned about the culture and if you can hang with the best fighters in Thailand as they have hundreds of fights you can fight anywhere, and you can find most stand up styles as many other fighters you can find for training partners and on a much higher level than any other country I have been too, so many choose Thailand for there are training every day. Back to Peirera’s repertoire of techniques, he is mainly blessed with the pure power he possesses in every limb, but if Khalil hits while Alex is punching, we could have an “And New..” but so far no one defense has held up against Peirera strikes.
I stand up to breathe because you can show no weakness. Life and fighting often feel the same, teaching us lessons along the way. Never show that you are tired because that guy is just as tired as you are so I will leave you with
“Pure Violence
Power in every blow
When the cage closes
There time for preparation is no more”– Austin Petti

My name is Austin Petti. I have been writing short stories and poetry for my whole life. Also, another passion is MMA and Muay Thai. You see I have been doing MMA since I was 19 years old–25. I made my pro debut in Indonesia. I was a Peace Corps Volunteer, which I have many stories. I joined Indonesia because it was the closest country to Thailand and hoped I could find a job in Thailand from another Peace Corps Volunteer and I did it. Now I have been living in Thailand for 8 years I have 16 pro fights. I just want to educate the people who watch MMA like me what is practical and what is different? What is the same between the martial arts and a lot of interesting training tools.
