Introduction
The first encounter that Faz Ali had with martial arts was with Jeet Kune Do (JKD). The creator of that specific style was Bruce Lee. JKD incorporates various techniques including: Wing Chun, Tai Chi, Taekwondo, boxing, fencing, and Jiu Jitsu. Ali is devoted to his training for his upcoming bout in the Doncaster, United Kingdom, against
Lucas Tenorio at Caged Steel 38 on December 7, 2024. Ali began his professional MMA career with a seven fight win streak. This looks like it will be a more challenging fight for Tenorio, as Ali is extremely diverse with the techniques. This gentleman is diligent about health and training. He is dedicated to doing what it takes to level up and move on to advance his career. December 7, 2024 will be his second Caged Steel appearance. His opponent is also a well-rounded fighter. Both contestants have the majority of their wins come by the way of submission.
Q & A
FightMatrix: Tell us about your childhood and upbringing; how did you first get involved with martial arts?
Faz Ali: I come from a working class background and fortunately never went down the wrong path I have a big friends circle some them carried on with education like myself and few dropped out & few ended up in crime and gang culture. I was always into sports football and used to play the old UFC game growing up! I stumbled across an art called JKD and that was the first martial art I did.
FM: What led you to a career as a professional MMA fighter?
FA: At first I wanted to compete badly then it kind of became an addiction. I can’t imagine not competing now in any form of martial arts.
FM: Who do you consider the greatest MMA fighter of all time, and why?
FA: Good question. GSP overall timing on his takedown in-between for MMA and physicality to also Khabib as well. Both very good at controlling their opponents and breaking their will to win.
FM: Who is your biggest inspiration in life?
FA: Wouldn’t say I really had one to be honest I grew up being the eldest son in my family and never really had the role model figure in my life. Growing up with the lads in the area I was kind of like one the elders & few my age too.
FM : Who has been your toughest opponent to date?
FA: Blake Parsons, he trained with former BAMMA World champion Brett McDermott. His cardio and physicality were next level, surprised he never stuck to it, he could gone pretty far.
FM: What is the proudest moment in your professional MMA career?
FA: I wouldn’t say I’ve shown any of my true potential yet I’ve had offers for big shows but haven’t pursued them. As I want more experience on the domestic scene which is getting difficult with opponents pulling out and promoters wanting to pay you peanuts to fight another prospect when them type fights should be on big stage.
FM: What are your short-term and long-term career goals?
FA: Short term is to probably have 1/2 more domestic fights. Long term whatever God wills all I can do is my best. I would like to have a multi fight deal on a BIG organization and once I’m done fighting, I know for a fact I’ll be a very good coach.
FM: What is your prediction for your fight against Lucas Tenorio at Caged Steel 38 on December 7th?
FA: You’ll have to wait and see 🙂
FM: How has your training been going in preparation for this fight?
FA: Good been mixing it up with few different gyms and caught up with few old training partners who are now involved in my training.
FM: Is there anything else you want your fans to know about you?
FA: Thanks for supporting me and purchasing tickets to my fight means a lot.
