If you don’t remember the first part of this article, you can find it here.
In September 2010, we looked at non-elite fighters who had been ranked for two years, and consistently won fights, but had become stagnant.
Revisiting the Top 5
1. Nick Penner (9/1/10 Rank: #77 vs. 9/1/08 Rank: #72 | [5-0-0 2yr])
Current Rank: Inactive (*)
We must have put the hex on Mr. Penner. He did the exact opposite of what we were looking for, which is go completely inactive.
2. Delson Heleno (9/1/10 Rank: #43 vs. 9/1/08 Rank: #60 | [6-0-0 2yr])
Current Rank: #43 (=)
Now here’s a model of consistency. He has the exact same ranking as he did when we did the analysis. He managed to fight twice since the analysis and be a rock at #43.
3. Brent Weedman (9/1/10 Rank: #39 vs. 9/1/08 Rank: #57 | [7-0-0 2yr])
Current Rank: #28 (+11)
Props to Brent, by scoring two wins that included a good quality one against Hornbuckle. He moved up 11 spots since the analysis in a tough division.
4. Hector Lombard (9/1/10 Rank: #24 vs. 9/1/08 Rank: #45 | [10-0-0 2yr])
Current Rank: #12 (+12)
Another success story! Lombard finally appears to be converting his potential into accomplishments.
5. Joe Doerksen (Current Rank: #25 vs. 9/1/08 Rank: #58 | [6-0-0 2yr])
Current Rank: #55 (-23)
Doerksen receded to his late 2008 levels with three consecutive losses since the analysis. He had a bit of a streak prior to the analysis, so he is just settling back in to his high-level journeyman rank position.
